As of September 17, 117 groups have endorsed the campaign.
To support the campaign as an individual, please sign the letter to WBEZ.
Our organizations understand the depth of WBEZ Worldview‘s value. We respectfully request that station management carefully review its decision to cancel it.
Worldview stands apart as a locally-produced world affairs show. It gives us the opportunity to share and learn from others in a unique “global-to-local” forum that has built a community of engaged listeners. We believe this community is at the core of the Chicago’s culture of international curiosity and active citizenship.
Our clients, colleagues, constituents, customers, faculty, members, supporters, staff, and students benefit from Worldview in these ways. They are the foundation of our organizations’ work.
For some of us, Worldview brings attention that directly allows us to deliver on our missions, from collecting school supplies for refugees to filling an auditorium for an important international event.
Worldview also elevates Chicago’s standing on the global stage. Experts from around the world have been interviewed remotely and in-studio. Many in-studio guests visiting Chicago decide to travel here knowing that part of their time will be spent on Worldview, making the journey here that much more worthwhile. These guests are often part of our work.
We hope our support will contribute to a better understanding of Worldview‘s ongoing impact, and that WBEZ will revisit their decision accordingly.
